ENERGY SAVING PRODUCT

HIGH EFFICIENCY AEROFOIL FAN FOR DG SET FLUID COOLER

PRODUCT

Aerofoil fans* are highly efficient compared to metallic fans because of the aerodynamic blade design. The other advantages of aerofoil fans over metal fans are:

  • Light weight: The use of lighter material for axial fans results in low moment of inertia which reduces starting torque, wear and stress on the motor and bearings and hence results in lower power lower consumption.
  • High strength: Lower maintenance cost; the impeller can be utilized in tough application.
  • Adjustability: Adjustable pitch and angle of blade enables to meet required performance.
  • Blade can be easily replaced rather than the complete fan.
  • Lower noise level and better performance.
  • Non-corrosive: The blades are not subjected to corrosion and hence are suitable for any environment.

The aerofoil axial fans have individual blade fastened to the hub. Depending upon the airflow required or the air power to be generated, options to increase or decrease the number of blades as well as the angels are available.

Instrumentation: Energy meters and hour meters were connected to each of the five fans to evaluate the performance of aerofoil  fans and the resulting energy savings. Energy consumption and running hours were monitored over a period of time. The collected data were downloaded and analyzed.
APPLICATION AREAS
The high efficiency aerofoil fan blade can be used as a replacement for cast aluminum blades of varying diameter and power consumption which are used in large numbers particularly in process, chemical and fertilizer industry. Typical applications are for ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning system, cooling towers, industrial heat exchangers (radiators), wind tunnels etc.
LIMITATIONS
1. This fan should not be used for too small (up to say, 1 kW rating) applications.
